Ms Hazel Bruce

Background
Born in Leeds, Hazel Bruce has lived in Belfast since 1992. She has been an exhibiting artist since 1990 and is a member of the 62 Group of Textile Artists . She has a background in arts and museum education. She has work in numerous public and private collections and in 1996 was awarded a Cultural Traditions Fellowship to fund research and a publication on the life of H.R. Lilley, a Belfast born painter and textile designer. She was appointed as a lecturer in Fine and Applied Art with a specialism in Textile Art in 2004.

Research Fields
Contemporary Textile Art Practice. She is particularly interested in the making process and the use of traditional skills to raise questions about the way we see and the status and function of the textile object.
