Education

  • 1978 - Diploma Distinction from North East London Polytechnic
  • 1986 - Awarded Honorary Fellow at The Royal College of Art.

Research Fields

Her main area of research is the investigation of traditional methodologies with contemporary technology. This is being investigated in a variety of ways.

Girli Concrete - The challenges are to combine textiles with hard surfaces- traditional / low technologies (concrete wet casting) with high technologies (laser cutting/etching/flocking/digital printing.

Reinventing The Archive - Working with Watts of Westminster's archive(founded in 1874) translating the original designs in a contemporary way but keeping the development within the capabilities of a working print Company. This theme runs through a lot of Patricia's work as she works with other established designers - Georgina Von Etzdorf & Neisha Crosland.

Where Art meets Science - Patricia is once again working with designer Helen Storey (previously worked on Primitive Streak) in a ground breaking project in collaboration with The Helen Storey Foundation and The Polymer centre at Sheffield University. The INTERFACE Fabric Forward team lead by Patricia will be developing fabrics that disappear during a three week exhibition. The work is an EPSRC funded project to provoke a debate into the ephemeral nature of packaging materials through an internationally acclaimed art installation.
